Stoney Says: April 28, 2021
A recurring compilation of the best of White Sox television analyst Steve Stone.
Steve Stone is a national treasure and should be treated like one. That’s why we’re rolling out ‘Stoney Says,’ a new recurring column here at White Sox Daily where we take the best of Steve Stone on Twitter and in the broadcast booth and put it all in one place.
Stoney was not a fan of Arihara’s pace
Steve Stone was not a fan of Rangers’ starter Kohei Arihara’s pace during Sunday’s ballgame. The 28-year-old right-hander couldn’t find the strike zone against the White Sox, walking four in just two innings of work.
White Sox hitters forced Arihara to throw 70 pitches as they tagged him for five runs on five hits and four free passes in two frames.
Spilled the Beans…
As his partner in crime in the White Sox TV booth, Jason Benetti pointed out on his own Twitter account; Steve Stone spilled the beans in the booth before Tuesday night’s game against the Tigers.
White Sox fans had some good, clean fun with Benetti's photo, the only way that Stoney would approve of it.
A man of the people
He’s willing to freeze his parts off over a fine cigar on his patio while interacting with White Sox fans the entire time.
Commanding the room
As another Twitter user points out, when Steve Stone starts an explanation with, “well, look…” it’s going to be a good one, so pull up a seat.
That’s it for this installment of ‘Stoney Says,’ but if we missed something that you would have liked to see in this column or have one for future installments, tag us on Twitter @dailywhitesox.
